Simple Kneads bakery in Greensboro

We went into Simple Kneads on North Elm Street in downtown Greensboro tonight and they had almond horns, chewy delicious almond horns, and fantastic chocolate eclairs filled with bonafide pastry-cream custard. The cream tasted like eggs, cream, real vanilla and butter--not melamine, vanillin and engine oil, or whatever the "custard fillings" are made from at commercial chains that sell baked goods.

Yay, thank you Simple Kneads!

  1. Friday night delight--Denied.

Boo hoo, went down to Simple Kneads with an almond horn craving before 9PM, but beheld a "Closed" sign on door.

    The help still inside.

With almond horns visible in the bakery case, we began pounding on the glass door--think Dustin Hoffman, The Graduate.

Door opened but cute clerk said "Sorry, we closed early, I closed out the register, too."

So despite pleas and supplications--"I'll give you $4 for one--I've blogged abt those cookies--we came downtown just to buy some"--and the cash we flashed--Access Denied.

Just think. What would the new Apple Store at Friendly Ctr have done? Betcha they'd have given us our cookies.
